Mother Earth’s ears must have been burning.

In the end, though, zoologist Mark Carwardine had better luck than Geraldo Rivera with Al Capone’s vault.

Just as Carwardine was coming up Geraldo-empty on whale spotting, telling his BBC audience how difficult spotting can be, even in “one of the world’s great hot spots,” a biggun’ appears.

“Oh look, there is one … actually that was a lot easier than I was expecting,” Carwardine said of the blue whale. “There’s a whale right there.”

Yet more evidence that it’s better to be lucky than good.
